Hi, I’m Scott Lamb, product manager for control valves here at Clippard. Today I want to talk a little bit about Clippard’s air to electric switches—the SAS and MAS line. How these things work is with the introduction of compressed air you can make or break an electric signal. You can turn on and off an electric motor with air present, or you might want to turn off the electric motor with air present. We can also turn on and off a signal to a PLC using these air to electric switches.
The particular offerings in these switches consists of two different switch sizes which have different AC/DC capabilities, along with different current capabilities. We also offer four different pressure levels, which would be minimum operation pressures, however, the switches can handle up to 150 psig. We also have three different wire connections available, two of them are spade type, 110 thousandths and 187 thousandths, and the third one is a Phillips head screwdriver-type connection. We also offer three ports, the famous Clippard #10-32 port along with two 1/8" NPTs, one female and one male.
Clippard does manufacture the pilot actuation portion of the switch, so we have lots of flexibility. For instance, if you need a different pressure actuation, please contact us. If you need maybe a different mounting configuration, please contact Clippard. Let us know what we can do for you. Call or email. Thank you, and don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel.
